A breast lump is not a verdict
Many breast lumps are benign, such as cysts and fibroadenomas. Any new lump deserves an examination and imaging, and a biopsy when needed, before surgery is discussed.
Breast tumour surgery
Dr. Taha Fayed manages benign and malignant breast tumours within a plan discussed with the patient, which may include treatment before or after surgery. The aim is to remove the tumour and conserve the breast whenever size and position allow.
- Tumour removal with breast conservation.
- Mastectomy when that is the safer choice.
- Assessment of the underarm lymph nodes when needed.
- Reconstruction when removal would affect the shape.
How the decision is made
Once tests are complete, the options are explained with their benefits and limits. No decision is made before the patient understands what surgery achieves and what follow-up is required.
